Parallel to the scientific colloquium “Climate change constraints on agriculture”, a large delegation of institutional representatives from the French National Institute for Agricultural Research (INRA) ed by its president Prof. François Houllier. and from the French Agricultural Research Center dor Development (CIRAD) came to Israel for the first time.
The delegation met many scientific and institutional personalities in Israel to unleash the full potential of cooperation between the two countries. The discussions with Mr. Yair Shamir, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, with Mr. Yaakov Perry, Minister of Sciences, Technology and Space and with Avi Perl, chief scientist of the Minister of Agriculture has provided an insight into the wide variety of common interests for cooperation such as water management, irrigation or genetic engineering.
INRA, CIRAD and the Israeli Ministries will consider the developping of bilateral agreements between France and Israel in the areas of climate change and food security.
