Israeli Agriculture honored by the French Republic

In a relaxed and convivial atmosphere, S.E Patrick Maisonnave, French Ambassador in Israel, has awarded Pr. Pedro Berliner and Mr. Eli Ben Zaken the insignia of Chevalier of the French Order of Agricultural Merit. The ceremony, held on November, 27th in the presence of the Israeli Minister of Agriculture, Mr. Yair Shamir, has gathered more than 150 people: families and friends but also journalists and scientific and academic personalities.

Prof. Pedro Berliner, director of the Jacob Blaustein Institutes for the Desert Research, and Mr. Eli Ben Zaken, founder and owner of Castel vineyard, have been honored and warmly thanked by France for their outstanding contribution to agriculture.

S.E Patrick Maisonnave has moreover insisted on their dedication and their abnegation. Their personal and professional paths bear witness to their unshakable goodwill to transform the land of Israel into a land of agriculture. The two recipients have lengthily thanked their family, colleagues and students, without whom these adventures wouldn’t have been as successful as they were.
